Christmas is early this year….for Berserk fans (Update)

Something like that. After a 16+ weeks or so since the last chapter, Berserk comes back full-force in this Friday’s issue of Young Animal. If you happen to find yourself in Japan. The new 33rd volume of the series is also being published on the same day. Oh, and there’s more. If you pick yourself up a copy of this week’s YA, you also get a special variant cover for Volume 33 drawn by Chika Umino (the author of Honey & Clover). Strange choice, especially since Miura’s art style is completely different than Umino’s. Which I guess is the point of a variant cover. Anyways, Umino is currently writing “March Comes in Like a Lion” (Sangatsu no Lion) which is also being currently published in Young Animal alongside Berserk and Detroit Metal City. Again, a weird combination…. And, as if that wasn’t enough, you can also enter into a contest to win signed images of the new covers by the their respective artists’ as well as some tea/flask set with the same pictures on it. Teatime with Guts?

But we aren’t in Japan are we? Oh, well. On American shores, volume 26 is set to be released on November 26th.

(New)

Posted below is the cover for the new Young Animal along with an advertisement for Volume 33 (with the image for the insert poster) and the variant cover for Volume 33 drawn by Chika Umino.

And to those of you who have no clue as to what Berserk is or who Chika Umino might be….here are the wikipedia articles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berserk_(manga) and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chika_Umino
