The BBC has announced the titles of the final episodes of Series 5 of Doctor Who. The final two episodes are entitled ‘The Pandorica Opens’ and ‘The Big Bang’.
Both episodes will be written by the current head of the series Steven Moffat and will be directed by Toby Haynes. Rumors are circling for the finale which will feature Roman Centurions, Stonehenge, River Song, and the return of the ‘original’ Cybermen just to name a few things. It is also being said that the Daleks along with the Sontarans and many other different creatures (even apparently including the Weevils from Torchwood) will appear in the two-parter.
It also appears that the episode will take place on Gallifrey as well and feature an old Time Lord enemy. Obviously these rumours are to be taken with a grain of salt until more information is released in the coming weeks. Whatever ends up happening, it seems that the first season finale of Steven Moffat and Matt Smith’s run on Doctor Who will be epic.
A sixth series has already been green-lit by the BBC and it has been confirmed that Matt Smith and Karen Gillan will be retaining their respective roles as the Doctor and Amy Pond. Series 6 along with the annual Christmas special will begin filming this summer.
