Star Trek Ships of the Line Model Kits and 2016 Calendar

Starting this month, AMT will begin releasing a new line of Star Trek model kits under the ‘Ships of the Line‘ banner. There will be four ships to begin the line: the original TV series USS Enterprise, the USS Reliant from The Wrath of Khan, the USS Defiant from Deep Space Nine, and a Klingon D7 battlecruiser. Each ship will also come with a large-format trading card featuring art from the Ships of the Line calendar series. AMT states that each ship will feature an easy, snap-together assembly and will require no glue or paint. This will be nice for me, as I always find myself drooling over AMT’s larger models but I have no patience for cementing parts together and painting the ship to make it look somewhat finished. Hopefully the new line does well enough to merit further ships being added to the collection.

In other Ships of the Line news, the first images have been released for the 2016 Ships of the Line calendar. The cover features a very nice picture of the Enterprise D and, as always, this calendar continues to be the best choice for starship pin-ups in this region of the Alpha Quadrant. also has a posting for a Ships of the Line poster set due out in October.

  1. I wonder if there is a way to get a customized model kit? A Miranda class body, Enterprise class dorsal minus torpedo launcher on the bottom of the saucer with a single warp nacelle, and the upper warp drive pylons of the Constellation class BUT with the Enterprise class warp drive. Thereby turning the Miranda class into a triple nacelled ship similar to what was known as the Chicago class.
