With just days to go before Dragon Ball Super airs on Japanese television on July 5th, there is a new 30-second promotional video that’s been translated and released online. The video shows a little of what everyone’s been up to since the defeat of Majin Buu and also features two new characters. The latest issue of Weekly Jump in Japan has also revealed a bit more of the story. Super picks up six months after the defeat of Majin Buu; Gohan and Videl are newly weds, and Goku is working hard at farming (which I’m guessing doesn’t last very long). The new plot details are interesting as it sounds as if the new TV series takes place before the 2013 Battle of Gods film despite it featuring Beerus and Whis in the TV spot posted above. This is a bit curious to me as both Battle of Gods and the recent Revival of F film added quite a bit to the Dragon Ball story and I was expecting them to just continue from where the story of Freeza’s resurrection left off. Otherwise wouldn’t the brand new Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form go unused in the new television series?
Regardless of my doubts before the premiere, it’s still very exciting to be looking forward to the first Dragon Ball TV series in 18 years.
