Four years after the first film in the live-action Rurouni Kenshin trilogy was released in Japan, this popular adaptation finally has a release date in North America. Funimation has acquired the rights to all three films and will be releasing them in theaters for limited runs this fall. The first film, now entitled ‘Origins’, will play in theaters on August 8, 9, and 10. Kyoto Inferno will play on September 12-14 and The Legend Ends rounds out the trilogy on October 3-5. You can pre-purchase tickets for the first film on Funimation’s official site now.
These ended up being really great films and I can’t imagine an actor better suited to play Kenshin than Takeru Sato. The fight sequences are also some of the best I’ve seen. If you enjoyed Nobuhiro Watsuki’s original comics and have yet to see these films, make sure you get around to checking them out.
