The Champions get lost within an endless labyrinthine city of epic proportions full of killer robots in their review of ‘BLAME!’. Based on the legendary manga by Tsutomu Nihei, Netflix and Polygon Pictures have teamed up to bring fans a new cinematic take on the story. Polygon Pictures have shown their strengths in adapting Nihei’s dense style before in their ‘Knights of Sidonia’ TV anime but can they bring ‘BLAME!’ to the mainstream viewer and still make it work? Listen and find out!

A couple of weeks ago Godzilla fans got the surprise announcement that a Godzilla anime film is in production. The film is set to be released in Japan in 2017 and will be produced by Polygon Pictures. Gen Urobuchi will be the writer of the new project which will be directed by Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita. Basically, the new project has a lot of the talent and staff behind Knights of Sidonia, Ajin, and the upcoming Blame! film. I expect the new Godzilla film to look quite similar to those projects. Although the promo image above is tantalizing; the premise behind the new film is unknown. Although I am a little disappointed that this will be mostly CGI; I certainly wasn’t expecting the next Godzilla project to be an anime film. Not only is this new for the franchise; it’s a cool direction to go in without immediately beginning production on another live-action film that will ultimately just be compared to Hideaki Anno’s mega-hit Shin Godzilla from this year.
