Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution Film Trilogy Announced

In news that totally took me by total surprise, Studio Bones has revealed a new project to revitalize the original Eureka Seven television series as a trilogy of films. The first film, due out later in 2017, is set 10 years before the television series and will depict the ‘First Summer of Love’ that was critical to the original story but never before seen by viewers. The second and third films, due out in 2018 and 2019, will continue the story and depict a new ending for the series.

After my disappointment with the first Eureka Seven film in 2009 and then the later sequel TV series AO in 2012, I have to say any new projects in this franchise leave me with more than a little trepidation; however, the core staff from the original TV series is back (Dai Sato, Kenichi Yoshida, and Tomoki Kyoda) with this new movie trilogy so it seems that Bones is intent on bringing back the magic that made the original story so great.

The new teaser ad, equipped with a new song by Hardfloor, certainly did all it needed to do to get me pumped up about a return trip to Eureka and Renton’s story.

Eureka Seven New Year’s Greetings

A few days late, but this is the new year’s greeting card from the artist Kenichi Yoshida who was the character designer for Bounen no Xamdou and Eureka Seven. The card features the two female leads from Eureka Seven — Anemone and Eureka. It’s also the year of the tiger in the Chinese zodiac calender, which is represented by, well, a tiger also featured in the picture.
